Minnesota United Game Day: Getting to Allianz Field

TL;DR: Getting to and from Allianz Field for Minnesota United FC matches in St. Paul. The Midway neighborhood location offers good transit access via the Green Line.
Allianz Field is on Snelling Avenue in St. Paul's Midway neighborhood - not downtown, which changes the transportation equation. It's surrounded by a mix of commercial and residential streets, not parking ramps. That means fewer structured parking options but also less downtown congestion.
Parking
Allianz Field doesn't have a giant attached parking structure. Parking is in several surface lots around the stadium, plus street parking in the surrounding neighborhood.
Official lots around Allianz Field are available on game days. Prices start around $10 and go up from there. You can prepay through SeatGeek up to two hours before kickoff, or buy at the lot when it opens (usually 2.5 hours before the game).
Street parking in the Midway neighborhood is available but increasingly limited on game days. The residential streets within a few blocks fill up fast, and some have permit-only restrictions. Go a few blocks further out and you'll find spots, but you're walking.
The Snelling/University intersection gets congested before and after games. It's a busy corner on a normal day - add 19,000 soccer fans and it slows to a crawl.
Light Rail
The Metro Transit Green Line runs right past Allianz Field. Snelling Avenue Station is a short walk from the stadium. This is probably the best transit option - $2.50 or less, no parking, no traffic.
For fans coming from Minneapolis, the Green Line is a straight shot from downtown. For fans in St. Paul, it depends on how close you are to the line.
Rideshare
Uber and Lyft work for Allianz Field, though the pickup/drop-off situation is a little less organized than at the downtown arenas. The Snelling corridor gets tight with traffic after the match, and driver staging isn't as clean.
Give it 10-15 minutes after the final whistle for the initial wave to clear, then request. Surge is usually modest - MNUFC games draw a passionate crowd but it's 19,000, not 66,000.
Car Service
The Midway location actually makes car service more practical than you'd think. Your driver can stage on a side street away from the Snelling traffic, and the routes out - I-94 is right there - are straightforward once you're past the immediate stadium area.
For families: Allianz Field draws a lot of families with kids. Packing the family into a car service means no parking walk with tired kids after a 9 PM finish, and no navigating dark neighborhood streets back to your car.
For groups from the suburbs: MNUFC has fans across the metro. A group from Woodbury or Lakeville taking a Suburban to Allianz Field and back is an easy, social way to do game day.

Tips Locals Know
Park at Midway Target or nearby retail. The big-box stores along University Avenue west of Snelling have large lots that are mostly empty on weekend evenings. It's a 10-15 minute walk but it's free and you'll get out fast after the game. Just be respectful - don't block store access.
The Green Line is genuinely the best option here. Unlike other venues where transit is a compromise, Allianz Field was literally designed around the Green Line. The Snelling stop is right there. If you're anywhere on the Green Line corridor (downtown Minneapolis, University Avenue, downtown St. Paul), just take the train.
Summer games are the experience. MNUFC plays April through October. A warm Saturday evening game at Allianz Field with the supporters' section going is one of the best live sports experiences in Minnesota. Plan to arrive early - the atmosphere outside the stadium before kickoff is half the fun.
Snelling Avenue northbound after games is brutal. If you're parked north of the stadium, go east or west on University first, then work your way north. Don't try to go straight up Snelling - 19,000 people are all doing the same thing.
