Best Wedding Venues in the Twin Cities (And How to Get Everyone There)

TL;DR: A guide to the best wedding venues in the Twin Cities with transportation considerations for each. Covers downtown Minneapolis, Saint Paul, and suburban/rural venues, plus logistics for wedding party vehicles and guest transportation.
Planning a Twin Cities wedding means choosing between 200+ venues. Most couples spend weeks comparing aesthetics, catering, and pricing. Almost none think about transportation until two months before the big day.
That's a mistake. The venue you pick determines how complicated (or simple) your transportation logistics will be. Here's a look at the best venues in the metro and what you need to know about getting your guests, wedding party, and yourselves there and back.
Downtown Minneapolis Venues
Machine Shop - Northeast Minneapolis, 300 2nd St SE. Industrial chic in a converted machine shop (the name is literal). Capacity up to 350. Right off I-35W and University Avenue. Parking is the catch - street parking in Northeast fills up fast on weekends, and the nearby lots are small. Guest transportation is almost mandatory for large weddings here.
The Hutton House - 1117 Hennepin Ave. Rooftop ceremonies with Minneapolis skyline views. Intimate capacity (under 150). Downtown location means valet or rideshare for most guests. The building has limited parking - plan for it.
Nicollet Island Pavilion - Nicollet Island in the Mississippi River. Yes, it's on an island. Accessible by bridge from both Minneapolis and St. Anthony Main. Gorgeous and unique, but the island roads are narrow and parking is minimal. A shuttle or car service from a nearby hotel is the standard play here.
The Aria - 105 N 1st St, North Loop. Modern, sleek, up to 300 guests. North Loop has good ramp parking within a few blocks, but on a Saturday night the neighborhood is busy. Valets help.
Saint Paul Venues
Landmark Center - 75 W 5th St. Historic Romanesque building in downtown St. Paul. Stunning architecture, great for photos. Street parking is free after 5 PM in St. Paul (unlike Minneapolis, which charges until 10 PM). That's a real perk for evening weddings.
Como Park Zoo & Conservatory - 1225 Estabrook Dr. Outdoor ceremonies in the Japanese garden. The zoo parking lot is large and free, which is rare for a venue of this quality. Easy in and out. One of the more transportation-friendly venues on this list.
The James J. Hill Center - 80 W 4th St. Another downtown St. Paul historic building. Grand staircase, library setting. Same free-after-5 parking advantage as Landmark Center.
Suburban and Rural Venues
Galleria - Edina. Upscale suburban location with good parking infrastructure. Easy highway access from I-494. Less stressful for guests coming from across the metro.
Silverwood Park - 2500 County Rd E, St. Anthony. Nature center with modern event space. Beautiful outdoor options. Located between Minneapolis and the north suburbs. Parking lot on-site but fills for large events.
Camrose Hill Flower Farm - Stillwater. A working flower farm with a barn venue. 30 minutes east of St. Paul on I-94. Stunning but rural. Guests will need clear directions and designated drivers if alcohol is served. A shuttle from a Stillwater hotel or group car service is common here.
Bloom Lake Barn - Shafer, MN. About 50 minutes north of the Twin Cities on I-35. Full barn wedding experience. Beautiful but remote. Transportation planning is essential - you can't Uber from Shafer at midnight.
Dellwood Hills Farm - Dellwood. North of Stillwater, tucked into farm country. Gorgeous property. Same rural transportation considerations as Camrose Hill.
What to Think About Before You Book
The 10 PM problem. Your reception ends at 10 or 11 PM. Your guests have been drinking for 4-5 hours. How do they get home? This is the question most couples don't ask until it's too late.
For downtown venues, Uber and Lyft work reasonably well - high driver density, short wait times. For suburban and rural venues, rideshare falls apart. Driver availability in Stillwater at 11 PM on a Saturday? Thin. In Shafer? Nonexistent.
The wedding party logistics. Your bridal party needs to get from the hotel to the venue for photos (usually 2-3 hours before the ceremony), then to the ceremony, then to the reception. That's 2-3 separate transportation moves for 6-12 people. Coordinating individual cars for that is chaos.
Guest parking costs add up. Downtown Minneapolis ramps charge $15-30 on weekends. For 100 guests driving separately, that's $1,500-3,000 in aggregate parking costs your guests are eating. A shuttle from a designated hotel eliminates that entirely.
The getaway car. After everything, you and your new spouse need to actually leave. Having a car waiting - not an Uber you're requesting in your wedding dress while 150 people watch - is worth every penny.
The Transportation Plan
For a downtown venue: Book a car service for the wedding party (hotel to photos to venue to reception to hotel). Let guests handle their own transportation via rideshare or ramp parking.
For a suburban/rural venue: Book a shuttle or group car service for guests from a central hotel. Book a separate vehicle for the wedding party. Don't rely on rideshare availability in areas where it doesn't reliably exist.
The best wedding transportation doesn't feel like logistics. It feels like part of the experience. A clean black Suburban pulling up to take the bride to her ceremony sets a different tone than seven people trying to fit in a friend's Honda Pilot.
